Interview with "In Darkness" Director Agnieszka Holland



Polish director Agnieszka Holland sits down with Charlie Rose to speak on her Foreign Language Oscar nominated film "In Darkness." The movie tells the true story of one man who risks his life to save dozens of Jews from a certain death in the Nazi-occupied Polish town of Lvov. In the interview Holland elaborates on some of the background and inspiration behind the film.

Catch the Action at the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival and Symposium


In 2004, the Alliance of Women Filmmakers launched a one-day screening event that highlighted films made by women residing in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Today the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival spans an entire week and features films of all genres made by women from around the world. The festival will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 through Thursday, March 29, 2012.

In addition to the festival, a one-day Filmmakers Symposium hosted by Warner Brothers’ Women of Warner and BE will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 and will include topics such as financing, social media marketing and digital distribution co-sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Board.

Grant Opportunity for American Dance, Music and Theater Artists

 Philanthropy News Digest has published an exciting REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

The USArtists International Program is now offering support for performing artists to participate in international festivals!

Administered by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the USArtists International program is committed to ensuring that the impressive range of performing arts in the United States is represented abroad,  and that American artists can enhance their creative and professional development through participation at international festivals.

To be eligible, applicants must be a dance, music, or theater ensemble or solo artist, including practitioners of folk and traditional forms, working at a professional level, etc.

*Deadline for grant proposals is April 20th
