Celebration of Roma Culture: International Roma Day & Screening of OUR SCHOOL

COLD SHOWER
In honor of SEE Fest's 2012 showing of Orsi Nagypal’s short film, COLD SHOWER, and Mona Nicoara's OUR SCHOOL (event info below) we ask that you help observe Sunday April 8, 2012 as International Roma Day.  In an eye opening article, Amnesty International has delivered an insight into the relentless persecution and prejudices against the European Roma – a group primarily living in Central and Eastern Europe (including the SEE countries of Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia).  International Roma Day aims to recognize this injustice against Romani people and also to celebrate their history and culture which has contributed so much to the rich cultural heritage of South East Europe and the world.

For more on the plight of the Roma people in Romania, join SEE Fest on April 25th for the screening of OUR SCHOOL, winner of Best U.S. Documentary 2011 at Silverdocs.
