KOKO & THE GHOSTS is most successful film of Croatia in the last half decade

It seems that United States is not the only place where children's stories and animated features have seen a jump in audience attendance!  In its opening weekend, Koko I Duhovi, or Koko & The Ghosts, saw the highest opening of a domestic film in Croatia in five years and has already been seen by a record breaking 81,114 viewers.

The children’s film is based on the second in the series of novels about the boy Koko by director Daniel Kusan's father who also co-wrote the script. The Koko books have been a cult in the former Yugoslavia since the 1980s and are still very popular among Croatian children and their parents.

The film's co-production company Kinorama has had a great ongoing collaboration with the South East European Film Festival- just last year SEE Fest had the opportunity to screen another one of their great Croatian films: Dalibor Matanic's "Mother of Asphalt".

Koko & The Ghosts has received critical acclaim among such international and children's festivals like Croatia's Pula Film Festival (where it won the audience award), the Chicago International Film Festival, and The Montreal International Children's Film Festival.

Koko is still playing in select theaters so catch this lovely film before it's too late!
